I am writing this on a Trans-Egyptian train crossing the vast Sahara Desert. It’s a 10-hours journey one way. The longest train ride I have ever been on.
It is part of the itinerary for my backpacking trip to Egypt this year, with my wife and colleague Naquib.
Throughout this trip, seeing how normal Egyptians works & live and seeing the disparity between the rich and the poor, and reflecting on my own life, my heart was touched and I am grateful on how lucky my life has evolved.
Normal people are blessed if they have one or two things going right for them. For me, I have three main things that made life such a bliss and so much more easier.
First, I am grateful for my wife. The best gift I have ever got in this life, she is the answer to my prayers. Sharing this trip with her, made this trip more memorable. Seeing the joy in her eyes made all the effort and hassle worthwhile. Trips that we took together to see places that she never visit before are my ways of thanking her for all that she have done to make my life easier and calmer.
Second, I am grateful for my career. I got lucky and I did fairly well in #2kerja , some people are struggling with one. Allah has been kind to me, Alhamdulillah.
Third, I got the opportunity to see the world and Allah has removed all the barrier that has potential to stop me from grabbing the opportunity. Some people has the means, but not the time and the opportunity to go. Some people has the time, but couldn’t afford it. I am grateful everything pans out alright for me.
There are of course, a lot of reasons for you not to travel. People stopping you or bothering you, so that you feel the hassle just not worth it. For me, this verse rings true:
“And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers.” (Surah Ali Imran, 3:54).
Seek help only from Allah and He will help you accomplish all that you wish.
